Payment Options

Pay for shipments, cart checkouts, and auction wins with methods built for East Africa and international buyers.

M-Pesa (Kenya)

STK & Pay BillUsually instant confirmation
  • Choose M-Pesa at checkout; you will receive an STK push to the Safaricom number on your account.
  • For Pay Bill flows, use the business number and account reference shown on the payment screen—never send to unverified numbers.
  • Keep the M-Pesa SMS until your order status shows as paid; screenshot it if you need support to reconcile quickly.
  • If the STK times out, retry once your signal is stable—duplicate successful charges are rare but report duplicates immediately.

Bank transfer

Local & regional railsTypically 1–2 business days
  • Supported partners include KCB, Equity Bank, CRDB Bank, NMB Bank, Stanbic, Absa, and other major institutions in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—exact availability appears at checkout.
  • Always include your DropEx order or invoice reference in the transfer narration so finance can match your payment automatically.
  • International wires may take longer and can incur correspondent bank fees; the amount that clears must cover your invoice total.
  • We dispatch or release seller settlements after funds are confirmed—not when the transfer is initiated.

Credit / debit cards

Visa & MastercardAuthorized at checkout
  • Cards are processed through PCI DSS–compliant gateways with 3-D Secure (OTP) where your bank requires it.
  • Billing address and ZIP should match your issuer’s records to reduce soft declines on cross-border carts.
  • You receive a digital receipt by email after a successful charge; pending authorizations drop off if an order is voided.
  • Corporate cards may need travel/online spending enabled by your finance team before large purchases.

PayPal

International buyers & sellersSubject to PayPal availability
  • Useful when you prefer PayPal balance or linked cards for international purchases where enabled.
  • Currency conversion uses PayPal’s rates at the time of capture; your statement may differ slightly from the storefront display.
  • Chargebacks and disputes follow PayPal’s policies in addition to DropEx marketplace rules—read both before high-value orders.
  • Payouts to sellers via PayPal may require verified PayPal business accounts and corridor approval.

Payment security

  • Checkout and account sessions use modern TLS encryption end to end.
  • Full card numbers are tokenized by our processors—we do not store raw PAN data on DropEx servers.
  • Fraud monitoring, velocity checks, and manual review on high-risk corridors protect buyers and sellers.
  • Operational access to payment metadata is logged and limited to trained staff for chargeback support.

Billing FAQ

How do refunds work?

Eligible refunds return to the original payment path: M-Pesa reversals to the initiating line, card refunds to the same card (timing depends on your bank), and PayPal refunds to your PayPal balance or card. Logistics-only cancellations follow the fee schedule in your shipment terms.

How does currency conversion work?

Listings may show KES, TZS, UGX, or USD depending on the seller and corridor. Your bank, card network, or PayPal applies its own exchange rate and fees for charges outside your account’s native currency.

Where can I download receipts?

Completed marketplace orders include downloadable PDF receipts in your account. For formal tax invoices, email finance with your company details and order references.
